End the Endless is a monster collecting game set in the oppressive atmosphere of the Purgatorial Realms. Encounter broken souls, able to be commanded, equip them with a variety of weapons and allow them to ascend, to conquer a myriad of horrific forces.  Claw your way from terrace to terrace , attempting to escape death itself and meet inhabitants, friend and foe alike.  Purge the wicked and slay divinity. 

Inspired by monster collecting game  challenge run rulesets - you will find yourself using your companions as tools to push each run a little bit farther.  Each Soul has its own abilities and playstyle that pairs with others. Tough multi phase boss fights force you to make difficult choices.

CONTENT: This game features body horror, extreme imagery and adult themes. THIS GAME FEATURES STRONG DEPICTIONS OF DEATH AND SUICIDAL IMAGERY.
Photosensitive Warning: This game is in development and may feature visual bugs that cause flickering lights. 

GAMEPLAY

This game features a "directional" combat system. You may talk to enemies to learn more about the world or, if prompted, bring them under your command. When using your abilities, you will use the "directional" menu.

This is a game about resource management. Ascending a soul early may not be a good idea in the long term, but may be necessary to defeat a boss.

You may find yourself with a near unwinnable situation unless you sacrifice a party member for the good of the run. Additionally, you may find yourself in a wealth of good fortune, only for a single bad fight to rip it away from you.

Souls tend to have archetypal roles and sub roles within those. Discover which composition works best for each area but remember, you might have different tools for each challenge.

This game was inspired by games such as Emerald Kaizo and Run & Bun Nuzlockes. 

Developer Notes

On Xbox Controllers - B Opens your menu.

Controller support is there but missing one feature - skills will require you to hover over them to see what they do.  This is unfortunately a limitation of RPGMaker's engine that I am still working on.

Languages; Anybody who wishes to translate this demo to share with their friends or family, please reach out to me. I will find a way to hook you up with what files are "hardcoded" (PNGs basically) in English for you to let me know what to change to make it more accessible.

A note on the art: I am responsible for all art in this game and it was done using Clip Studio Paint. Animations were done on Aseprite by me as well however there are a couple animations in the game that are placeholders from RPGMaker files. These will be removed on release. 

Canvas size is 360x640 for maximum asset scalability - native resolution is 1280 x 720p for double scaling to 1440p.

Additionally, a small manual has been created as this game is a passion project first. I am a solo developer, responsible for all of the art and everything else that comes with making a game and I will do my best to keep things updated frequently.  

All sounds were obtained from Freesound under the CC0 License. Music was obtained from SoundMorph via purchase.

Lastly, this game is still in VERY EARLY IN development.  Any suggestions or comments on balance, fixes or bugs are greatly appreciated.  There is an absolute labyrinthine maze of skills, interactions etc. bugs, yes sometimes gamecrashing ones will be expected. 

Difficulty will continuously be adjusted as I add new content. 

If any other RPGMaker Devs would like to know how things were made (eg: isometric movement, the UI etc) - please reach out and I will happily provide what guidance I can if possible. Additionally, if there is appetite, I will make some videos on how to get HUDmaker and other plugins to play nice with each other.

Added a quick fix to a collision issue.

Also fixed a weird crash bug with the Carrion Knight quest.

As usual,  simply redownload the new file.
